Connect TripleWhale 🐳

Bring TripleWhale's attributed numbers into Upspring and compare them side by side with your platform-reported metrics — across reports, charts, and dashboards.

Written by Ron Dahan

TripleWhale reports its own attributed numbers — spend, revenue, ROAS and purchases based on Triple Attribution — and those usually differ from what the ad platform reports. Connect TripleWhale to Upspring and you can put both on the exact same ads: your platform numbers and TripleWhale's, with the difference right there in the table.

TripleWhale connects per space, so if you manage several brands, each space gets its own TripleWhale account.

What you need

  • An Upspring space with your Meta ad account already connected — TripleWhale numbers are matched to your Meta ads.

  • Admin access to the space.

  • A TripleWhale API key and your store domain (e.g. acme-store.myshopify.com).

Connect TripleWhale

1. Open your space's data sources

In the left sidebar, go to Settings → Data connections, find the TripleWhale card, and click Go to Space Settings. (You can also go straight to Space Settings → Data Sources.)

2. Create your TripleWhale API key

On the TripleWhale card, click Generate API Key to open TripleWhale's guide on creating and managing API keys, then copy your key.

3. Connect

Click Connect on the TripleWhale card and fill in:

  • Name — a label for this connection (e.g. your brand name).

  • Store domain — your Shopify domain, e.g. acme-store.myshopify.com.

  • TripleWhale API key — the key you just copied.

Click Connect. Upspring validates the key and links the account — this can take up to 20 seconds, so keep the window open. When it's done, TripleWhale shows as connected under that space.

💡 Managing several brands? Repeat this in each space, using that brand's TripleWhale account.

Choose your source: Original, TripleWhale, or Both

Once TripleWhale is connected, open any report (or a View) and use the source selector in the toolbar:

  • Original — your platform-reported numbers (Meta), exactly as before.

  • TripleWhale — the same ads, shown with TripleWhale's attributed numbers.

  • Both — TripleWhale and your platform numbers side by side, so you can see the gap on every ad.

The source you pick applies across the whole report — the table, KPI tiles, and every chart — and carries into the ad breakdown, the creative view, the Launch Report, shareable reports, and your Views dashboards. It's remembered per space as you move between reports, and resets when you switch to another space.

What TripleWhale changes

TripleWhale supplies the attribution-driven metrics: spend, revenue, ROAS, purchases and cost per purchase. Metrics TripleWhale doesn't report — like impressions, CTR and CPM — always stay on your platform numbers, whatever source you've picked.

Numbers won't match Meta exactly, and that's the point: TripleWhale uses its own attribution model, so its ROAS and revenue reflect a different view of what drove each sale.

Good to know

  • It's per space. Connect TripleWhale in each space where you want it — accounts never cross between spaces.

  • Your data is safe if TripleWhale is unreachable. If a TripleWhale request fails, Upspring quietly falls back to your platform numbers, so the report always renders.

  • Matched to your Meta ads. TripleWhale numbers are joined to your Meta ads by ad ID.

Troubleshooting

"TripleWhale API key is invalid"
Double-check the key and the store domain — the key has to have access to that store. Generate a fresh key in TripleWhale if you're unsure.

I don't see the source selector
It only appears once TripleWhale is connected in the space you're working in. Switch to that space, or connect TripleWhale there first.

The numbers look different from Meta
Expected — TripleWhale reports its own attributed results. Use Both to compare them next to your platform numbers.
