Overview

Upspring's AI Settings let you shape how the AI understands your brand, follows your directions, and adapts to your style. You'll find four sections under Settings > AI
Settings:

  • Basic Context

  • Space Knowledge

  • Instructions

  • Preferences

Each one plays a different role. Here's how they work.

Basic Context

This is where you define the fundamentals about your brand — your website URL, a general description of your business, your target market countries, and the performance metrics you care about most.

The AI uses this as baseline context in every conversation. Think of it as your brand's profile card.

Shared across your team — anyone in the space sees the same Basic Context.

Space Knowledge

Space Knowledge lets you upload detailed documents or paste text that the AI should always have access to. This could be your brand guidelines, audience research, competitive analysis, tone-of-voice documentation, or anything else you want the AI to reference.

Key details:

  • You can add up to 10 knowledge items (text or file uploads)

  • Knowledge is always active — it's injected into every chat and every analysis automatically

  • It's shared across your team — everyone in the space benefits from the same knowledge base

Tip: Use ChatGPT to generate a knowledge document based on what it already knows about your brand, then paste it here.

Instructions

Instructions are task-specific directives you can apply on a per-chat basis. Unlike Space Knowledge (which is always on), Instructions are selected when you start a new conversation to steer the AI toward a specific goal.

For example, you might create instructions like:

  • "Scripts for Gen Z Personas" — tells the AI to write in a casual, short-form style targeting younger audiences

  • "UGC Concepts for DTC Brands" — focuses the AI on user-generated content ideas with direct-to-consumer framing

  • "Holiday Campaign Ideas" — directs the AI to brainstorm seasonal creative concepts

Key details:

  • You can create up to 10 instruction sets

  • Select an instruction from the chat input bar before sending your first message

  • You can only pick one instruction per conversation — to switch, clear the chat and start fresh

  • Instructions are shared across your team

Preferences

Preferences are things the AI learns about you over time through your conversations. You don't create these manually — the AI picks them up as you interact with it and applies them to all future chats automatically.

For example, if you consistently ask for shorter responses or prefer a certain format, the AI will remember that.

Key details:

  • Preferences are personal to your user — they are not shared with your teammates

  • You can view and remove any preference at any time

  • Removing a preference means the AI will stop applying it going forward
