Connect Upspring to Claude with MCP (or any AI client)

Add Upspring as an official connector in Claude or any AI assistant, and ask about competitors, industries, and your own ad performance in plain language.

Written by Ron Dahan

Upspring has a built-in MCP server, which means you can plug Upspring straight into Claude, or any other AI assistant that supports custom connectors. Once connected, you can ask questions about competitors, industries and your own ad performance in plain language, and the assistant pulls live data from Upspring to answer.

For Upspring's Official Claude Connector

What you need

  • An Upspring account (you can also sign up during the connection flow)

  • An AI client that supports MCP connectors — Claude, and most other modern AI clients

The connector URL

https://api.upspring.ai/mcp

In other AI clients

The steps are the same anywhere: find the option to add a custom or remote MCP connector, paste the URL above, and complete the browser sign-in. Upspring uses standard OAuth, so your client handles the login for you — you never copy or paste a token.

You don't need to connect an ad account

This is the part worth knowing: Upspring's MCP works whether or not you've connected your own ad account.

Without a connected ad account, you get the full competitive intelligence side of Upspring. You can ask things like:

  • "What creative angles is Ridge running right now?"

  • "Compare how Oura and Whoop open their ads."

  • "What hooks are most common in skincare ads this quarter?"

  • "Show me the top-performing ads in the supplements category."

  • "Which advertisers are on my watchlist, and what are they testing?"

Ask about any advertiser, any industry, any creative trend. Nothing needs to be set up first.

With a connected ad account, everything above still works, and your assistant additionally gets access to your own performance data:

  • "How did my ads perform last month?"

  • "Which of my creatives had the best ROAS in Q2?"

  • "What do my winning ads have in common?"

  • "How does my hook strategy compare to my top competitor?"

That last kind of question — your data next to the market — is where the connector really earns its keep.

Going from one to the other is seamless. If you connect a Meta ad account in Upspring later, your assistant picks up the new capabilities on its next message. You don't need to reconnect, re-approve, or change anything.

Switching workspaces

If you're a member of more than one Upspring workspace, you pick one during setup. To change it later, just ask your assistant: "switch my Upspring workspace". It'll show you the list and move over. Your watchlist and ad accounts follow the workspace you're in.

Tips for better answers

  • Name brands directly. "What is HiBob doing differently from Deel?" works better than "compare two HR brands."

  • Ask for the reasoning, not just the numbers. "Why do you think that angle is working?" gets you a strategist, not a dashboard.

  • Ask to see the creative. Your assistant can pull up the actual ad media when you want to look at it, not just read about it.

  • Start broad, then narrow. Ask what's happening in a category, then dig into the specific ads that stand out.

Troubleshooting

"This connection request expired"
The sign-in link is valid for 10 minutes. Go back to your AI client and start the connection again.

"Your account has no workspace yet"
Finish setting up your account in Upspring first, then reconnect.

My own performance tools aren't showing up
Those appear only once a Meta ad account with performance data is connected to your workspace. Connect it in Upspring, then send a new message in your assistant — the tools appear automatically.

"Rate limit exceeded"
There's a fair-use cap on how many requests can run in a short window. Wait a moment and try again.
